Car Detailing Guide
Washing:
Your vehicle should be washed once or twice a month. Every day, your vehicle is exposed to bird droppings, bugs, tree sap, fuel drippings, and road salt. Over time, with out the proper removal, these hazards can have a detrimental effect on your vehicle’s finish.
- Park vehicle in shaded location away from overhanging trees.
- Mix car wash soap with water in bucket as specified in directsions (We recommend Zymöl Clear AutoBathe or P21S Total Auto Wash)
- Starting from the top, rinse off any loose dirt from the vehicle with a hose.
- Lather a Zymöl sponge with the soapy water and sponge the vehicle from top down focusing on one section at a time. Rinse off excess soap with water as you complete each section. When all sections are washed, give the entire vehicle one last rinse to ensure there are no water spots.
- Dry the entire vehicle using the Zymöl Synthetic Chamois to ensure that water spots do not form.
- Clean your vehicle’s wheels using a quality wheel cleaner like Zymöl Wheel Brite or P21S Wheel Cleaner.
- Now it is time to move on to cleansing your vehicle.
Cleansing
The second step to protecting your car’s finish is to remove any dead or oxidized paint. Zymol’s HD-Cleanse restores your original paint luster by removing light oxidations, moderate scratches, accumulated road film, tar, and acid rain deposits. This is a critical step that must be completed before a new coat of wax is applied as it removes impurities to ensure adequate adhesion.
- Using a Zymöl Pre-Wax Applicator, apply Zymöl HD Cleanse evenly but liberally onto a two or three square foot section with a straight-line, side-to-side movement. Do not use a circular motion when spreading HD Cleanse.
- Work HD Cleanse into the finish with a medium to heavy pressure until the surface becomes slightly tacky.
- Gently buff with a clean Zymöl Towel to reveal the true, clean finish of your car. (The paint will feel silk smooth).
The final step in the car wash process is the waxing of the vehicle. A coat of wax is simply a protective layer for your vehicle. It acts as the first line of defense from hazards like ultraviolet rays, ozone, acid rain, tree sap, and road tar. A good coating of wax will also bring great luster and shine to your vehicles finish as well. It is important that the vehicle is properly washed and cleansed as described above. This will allow the wax to effectively bond to the paint. A new coat of wax should be applied every 3-4 months.
Quality car wax is made from Carnuaba. Carnuaba is a wax derived from the leaves of the Carnauba Palm, a tropical plant native to and only grown in northeastern Brazil. Most waxes on the market contain as little as 5% Carnuaba if any at all. Zymöl's waxes contain anywhere from 33% - 70% Carnuaba by volume, depending on product. Zymöl only uses the top grades of Carnuaba; #1 white and #1 yellow. Essentially, Carnuaba is the sole ingredient that will produce the best shine on your vehicle. The more Carnuaba in the wax, the better result you will see.
- Make sure the paint surface is cool and not in direct sunlight. The temperature should be above 50 degrees Fahrenheit with low humidity.
- Always wash and cleanse the vehicle immediately before waxing.
- Working in small sections and using a Zymöl Wax Applicator, apply the wax in overlapping circular motions.
- Using Zymöl Towels or Zymöl Microwipes, wipe off the wax after it has had a chance to dry and haze over.
For additional shine between wax jobs, use Zymöl Field Glaze Liquid to quickly enhance your vehicle’s shine in a fraction of the time.
